I remember the days before mobiles and the internet. I remember returning from holiday once to find some awful things had happened while I was away. I had been having a joyous experience, oblivious to the terrible stuff. It was easier in those days to be present in each moment and to deal with whatever was occurring in each moment, be it good or bad.

If I were dealing with the terror of some catastrophe, I would rather you didn't know about it. I would rather you were experiencing and enjoying a perfect day in paradise.

And this is why I do not read or watch the news.
