I agree that if people blindly follow Grammarly suggestions, they will end up with a boring piece that has had all the heart knocked out of it. Having said that, as someone who is semi-educated, I did (still do sometimes) find it useful for picking up typos, punctuation, and helping me learn not to use "that" so often. But I have always dismissed 90% of its suggestions for exactly the reasons you highlight here. I love the advice you offer to read more and read well. The worrying thing is that if new writers here only read pieces that are written by AI or overly-Grammarly'd stuff, they will start to write like that, thinking that is how they should sound.
