What a lovely reply, Selena. I am not sure I am the one best qualified to give advice. But I'll give it a go and say what might have helped ME. Bear in mind, this might not be true for all. I have read advice that says here on Medium, it can help to break longer articles like this down and release them in (maybe) 3 parts with links in each one to the other parts. Medium is a community of writers and readers, and it is probably just the writers (ever short of time for their own writing) who can get put off by large blocks of text.

There are so many wonderful snippets of information here: that Darwin was shy, that Kelvin was born of high privilege - for example. Both these gems are in the same paragraph (and may benefit from being separated?) Simplifying things as much as possible isn't easy but tends to be rewarded (again just MY take).

I am currently reading a book called "on Writing Well" by William Zinsser and finding it very insightful. Perhaps I shall be able to offer more insights when I have finished it! But remember this is just MY take. I imagine anyone studying this subject will be mesmerised.
