Well now that is odd. I'm British and was always taught it belonged inside the quotation marks in all the examples you have given. The thing you have got "wrong" š¤£is that it is NOT a period. A period is what women have every month. It is a FULL-STOP!! š¤£
Such a fun read Jenny, even though i had to keep doing a double-take when i got to a "period". NOW there is a case where it does go outside the quotation mark. Hope it is clear why, and what the difference is from your examples. Or this could get complicated.
