Excerpt from a 2013 email to my children.

Characters: Roger, my husband. You’ll get the measure of him.

My only achievement today has been to work out how to edit a song so that I just get the catchy part I want to use as a ringtone. Transferring it to my phone was a nightmare but . .. ta, da . . .

Don’t tell Roger, but I have finally succeeded and now when he rings the music that plays is Alicia Dixon singing, and I quote:

“He doesn’t wash up, never wash up, he doesn’t clean up, no he never cleans up; the boy does nothing, the boy does nothing”

Fingers crossed he never calls me from the same room.

I came, I wrote, I conquered. That last bit might not be true, but at least I am putting up a good fight.
