This is, as George says, a beautifully crafted story. But I'm going to disagree. I think that that the joy of giving fruit is enough in its own right, and without the need for anything in return. Of course, a friendship that is mutual with both people giving and receiving will probably be healthier and more fulfilling than one that is one-sided. But I would never withhold fruit from someone because they weren't in a position to return the favour in some way. The joy is in the giving. Just my take on it. In kindness, A🙏💚
