Thank you for your insights, Chris. I am going to an Al-Anon meeting tomorrow. i want to be fully supported in case the worst happens, and the rehab doesn't work for Edward. I so agree with you that we can't change people, only ourselves. Often when we change ourselves it gives others permission (or impetus or something) to change THEMselves.
There have been many times in the past years when I have wanted to pressure others to drink less. Thank goodness I resisted. This was Ed's choice and decision in the end. It was he who called the rehab clinic. I am so heartened by your words that this means it is more likely to be successful. And then . . . i am setting aside that desire. I have four weeks to work on MYSELF and get as much support as possible in place. Perhaps, maybe, that is all i can do. Thank you for your kindness and suggestions. They are much appreciated. A🙏💚
