Thank you for this, Matthew. I hear you. I know we are constantly being told we should write for the reader, but the second we start to think about adjusting our work to fit boost requirements, or even what readers want, I think we are on a very slippery slope. The work becomes more factory-machined and less art. Don't go there!! And I so hope you choose to stay. For me, even if one person reads and enjoys a piece, let alone a dozen, i am happy. The joy is in the writing, not in the responses. Or lack of them. I had fun with this. And that's what matters to me. ME ME ME!!
