Ode to A Writer

A short poem that probably belongs in the bin

In my head a book I wrote
In colour and 3D
Alive, awarded, erudite
It earned a great fat fee

I saw myself on tour
And live on the TV
I saw myself take a bow
Applauded, that was me

I went ahead to write it down
I tried and tried and tried
But everything just came out dead
And shrivelled lay my pride

Everything I wrote was flat
And shamefully 2D
Will I ever get the knack
Of writing in 3D?

I came, I wrote, I conquered. That last bit might not be true, but at least I am putting up a good fight.
