My wage as a junior reporter in 1980 was £50 a week. I love this article, Michelle. We need journalists more than ever. The UK Post Office scandal brought this home to me recently. Without reporters getting the facts into the public domain, many more subpostmasters would have been jailed or committed suicide. I think a good free press is the cornerstone of democracy. We live in worrying times.

I came, I wrote, I conquered. That last bit might not be true, but at least I am putting up a good fight.
