It never occurred to me NOT to join the Medium Partner Programme. My first paycheck was 23 cents, and I was proud as punch. My reason for joining Medium was to write and improve my writing, but the income has been the most welcome side benefit. It was six months before the income paid for my Medium membership, but after nine months, I am making enough to cover that AND a coffee a day (although not a gallon of milk at those prices!). The trick is not to view the income as a measure of success or get too caught up in chasing the stats. It is essential to focus on writing and to let go of hopes and desires. I don't think the articles you write are totally "hidden" behind the paywall - non-members can read three articles a month without joining, and there are lots of workarounds they can use to access more if they hunt for them. I'd say go for it!! A🙏💚
