In truth, we mainly shop at Lidl, but that requires a car. Waitrose is the only one we can walk to, and sometimes, that can work out cheaper than petrol, etc., plus there is the health benefit of walking. Which is priceless. And their Saver range is quite good value.

As to the one with the longest date. Hmmm. all sorts of scope for misunderstanding. Roger is a mathematician so in his brain 1-9th of the month will be shorter than the longer 10-31 dates. Which could work out ok so long as I was sending him to the supermarket early on in a month. But if I was sending him on, for example, the 29th , then it wouldn't work at all because he would bring back the longer date of the 29th instead of the shorter date of 1st, 2nd , 3rd. Which would be the older ones I want. Then there is the added confusion that I think in words so January the seventh is a longer date than January the eighth, ninth or tenth. Hope that has explained it all Tony.

PS: the things that come out of my mouth surprise me sometimes. and even I was a bit confused that "older" came out. But once it had, I felt duty-bound to defend it. 😁

I came, I wrote, I conquered. That last bit might not be true, but at least I am putting up a good fight.
