I once met Paul PcCartney's translator for his tour of Japan. He was very English but spoke fluent Japanese. It was a long time ago when pretty much only Japanese spoke Japanese. One day he got into a lift and a Japanese couple got in and were debating which floor the restaurant might be on. He replied (in perfect Japanese) that it was on the second floor. They stared around the lift looking for the camera and microphone.
