I often think about how bad things would have to get for me to choose to leave my home and country. The answer is REALLY bad. Unimaginably bad. It saddens me that people have negative opinions of "refugees and immigrants" as if they are one homogenous group, without understanding that if they could hear each individual heart-breaking tale, they would probably open their hearts, maybe even their homes, but very definitely their country, to welcome them and give them shelter.
