I got so excited with my first one. But I have found that most people just stay for one month and then disappear! I had 6 at one point but am back down to 2 and I expect they will go soon. I don't think it has anything to do with my writing - it is just LUCK! Never underestimate the power of luck. I do wish we had the option to leave Medium with our work intact and rejoin giving half our membership to someone we love to follow rather than god knows who. I have no idea whose referral link I clicked on. I have messaged each of my referrals offering to help in any way i can on their Medium journey and religiously read and follow and comment on every piece they write.
