I can absolutely see the appeal of having a second profile on Medium with a pen name to write the difficult stories that may get backlash or the ones you don't want friends or family to read. But i think you could safely write history articles under your real name. I would read them and those followers that were hoping for a humorous relationship piece could just click away.
