I am so impressed that you learned Chinese. WOW! I loved your description of your time there, especially the bit about a closed shop becoming an open one with one knock. I think travel and living in other countries is one of the best ways to broaden the mind. I'm a little envious that you got to do that in China. But I am not sure I would have been as brave as you.
