If you have children and would prefer they leave home in a timely fashion, then this article is for you. Don’t forget that they take up more space when they reach adulthood and consume more of everything. Think of your bills.
Read on for my top tips on how I got mine to leave home by the time they hit 18 and, in one case, 17 — a win.

Research in the UK in 2020 showed that 71% of young single adults were living with their parents during their early 20s, over half were living at the parental home in their late 20s, and a third were in their early 30s.
In the same year in the USA, a report stated that 52% of young adults resided with one or both of their parents in July.

I was autistic, with four boys. When people mentioned empty nest syndrome, I would fall to the floor laughing. I wanted mine out of the house as quickly as possible. I wanted space. I wanted quiet. I craved solitude. Having them still living at home as adults was not part of the plan.
