I hate success stories. They make me feel like a failure but in a powerless, useless sort of way. I don’t like relying on someone else for my sense of failure. I want to feel as if it is all my own work.

Don’t read those success stories about $$$ earned on Medium (per hour). Instead, join me in my failure stories, and feel great about yourself.

Glamour

You are meant to be a bit glamorous on your wedding day, so I allowed my mother to take me to London for the day to buy my outfit. She said it was not OK to get married in jeans and a T-shirt, and I believed her.

Unfortunately, I also followed her advice to wear high heels for the outing. It all made sense at the time: I would be wearing them on my wedding day, and it was essential to practise and also make sure we got a dress that was the correct length for this new taller version of me.

It made less sense after about the first five minutes of trying to walk in them.

I came, I wrote, I conquered. That last bit might not be true, but at least I am putting up a good fight.
