How brave of you to share your story. Please don't feel guilty anymore. You did the best you could possibly do with what went before. All mothers do. Nathan is SO lucky to have you as his Mum, and I bet he wouldn't have wanted or chosen anyone but you. So many parents these days expect the schools to do everything and blame the teachers for any of their child's failings. You didn't do that. You committed to working with him at home, asked for advice, took it, and ran with it. You are AMAZING. I read to my children often (and always got them to do mental arithmetic -- usually in the fish and chip shop where they had to add up how much the bill would be). Still, one of the four never picked up a book until he was 14, and I took them all on holiday to a place without internet or wi-fi!! But I made mistakes in other areas that you didn't. No parent is perfect. I too think you handled this really well. A💚🙏
