How an Old Person became a Fan of the British Rapper, Roots Manuva
I put “old” in the title in case anyone under the age of 41 is reading this. Old age is always 20 years older than you are.
I’m not old. I visited a 94-year-old this week, and she called me a spring chicken. I am going to see her more often, even though she talked non-stop for two hours and I had to have a lie down when I got home.
The story of my brush with Roots Manuva starts a while ago when I decided to address my lack of education in a fit of mild insanity. Three of my four sons all have degrees (one is even a Master of something), and I felt I needed to up my game.
Proper University was out of the question, what with eye-watering fees and student loans and, you know, actual study.
So I went the Open University route and opted for the cheapest course to start gaining points: a Foundation Degree in Arts and Languages.
Somewhere in the middle of Block 3, we were working on language and were asked to watch and study a Roots Manuva video called Witness the Fitness
