I hated being made to kiss and hug

(usually elderly) relatives or friends of my parents and I never made my children do it. One of their favourite bedtime stories was: We Can Say No!!

I think kids are less likely to be manipulated if they have a strong sense of their own personal boundaries and that it is OK to say No!
